Reach For Diamonds

I didn’t know
How to reach for diamonds
All I had were bits of gold
In the silver of my life
I didn’t understand
That for pearls to be pearls
I had to wait patiently at the seashore
I wanted diamonds more
I just didn’t understand
That for diamonds worthy of me
I had to dig deeper,
I had to wait longer
For what I wanted was
A diamond to illuminate
A path worthy of me
To cut through and make way
Where there was only darkness
And so I reached out,
I dug deeper, oh so painful a process
Because I wanted diamonds more
