The Diva Principle

A true Diva is a woman who knows that life is not about her, but rather the contribution she makes to others around her and the legacy she will leave behind.” from The Diva Principle, 2004. This is a book written by Michelle McKinney Hammond and formed the background of Wanjiku Wairia's, a Nutrition Consultant's talk on health as a legacy.
Her company, Optimal Nutricare, deals with optimizing health defined as, "Optimal Nutrition is simply a means of nourishing yourself with the best possible combination of nutrients to enable your body to be as healthy as possible and to operate on top notch gear as possible. Therefore, you need not be a vegetarian, take supplements or eat particular combinations of food in a certain sequence at particular times THOUGH for certain people such advice would be appropriate especially in disease."Being a diva takes understanding that you are born a diva, created in the image of Almighty God. As Wanjiku stated, "Pure substance begins with a healthy dose of wisdom that comes from a healthy mind" so it's important to get our lives fortified by optimal health. Our minds are a strong muscle and does dictate what we are now and can become tomorrow. Apparently, what I eat affects my mind. Looks like I need to get some fish going on, they did say it's the brain food. The next part is the diva business is all heart and it was a fav part for me during this presentation, not so much because of the importance of heart health but putting heart in all that you do, about being "fearlessly determined to shed light not hogging the limelight" and that the heart of the matter is "it's all in my hands"! Then there is power in being a diva who makes long life investments and health is one place to start. And the building of character that will separate the diva from the rest as they weather storms not matter how severe. True DIVADOM is about embracing life in it's reality and choosing to live it in fullness. It's about being unforgettable, the ability to shine in tragedy and most of all endurance that carries you through the years! Optimal health would therefore ensure that you have this endurance but most times we are so busy taking care of everyone else to give ourselves the care our hearts, minds and bodies require. I am guilty of this and I know that i will have to get my head, heart, act and life together by improving my health. That means eating better, which will include lunch (I always forgo lunch!), exercise(mostly think only people looking to lose weight need the gym!), increasing my spiritual feeding(more Bible Study) and the ultimate that we forgo most times, drinking those eight glasses of water everyday. After all, I need to be in optimal health as i work out my legacy.
