Phenomenal Woman - A Summary

Saturday, 7th July, 2007 or 07-07-07 or 07-07-2007, whichever way you want to look at it ended up being a great day! I guess waking up with great expectations ensured that I received just that. Law of attraction at work, just as The Secret says it will. I had a one hour (7am-8am)prayer meeting at NPC, Valley Road and it was a really great moment, worth getting out of bed at 5.30am on a Saturday. The Phenomenal Woman seminar was starting at 8.30am which meant being at the Grand Regency at 8.15am to ensure that I kept time. I was with one of my sister', Nancie, and this provided a great opportunity for bonding as she lives out of Nairobi.

Grand Regency was vibrant and all the ladies seemed intent on keeping time. The MC was Nyatichi Sitati and she made everyone comfortable and got things rolling with a game of meeting others with a sweet. The objective was to introduce yourself without using I AM or MY or I and see how many sweets you walked away with. I managed to get five sweets and ended up in total with six sweets. Clearly got everyone ready for the program.

First up was Carole Mandi, Managing Editor for True Love East Africa. Her task was to draw out the wisdom of women and in particular the guiding light or principle that each lady in the room lived by. Queen Ramotsehoa presented "From Reactor to Creator" on your path to "create your own success" in the morning and later in the evening gave us the Tool Box that is essential for this process. Joyce Waiyaki, a Personal Financial Advisor from Old Mutual gave a presentation on Basics of Financial Management. Hot on her heels was Wanjeri from Housing Finance who issued a challenge regarding women saving up or working towards owning their own properties instead of waiting for others(read men). Eunice Mathu gave her story about growing up with nothing and setting up Stellan Publishers. I must say hers was an inspiring moment, she is in her 50s(my guess, from the given maths) and looks like 30s and how she continues to push herself to more success. She is currently involved in the Starehe Girls project, an institution concerned with the education of girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The lunch break was a worthwhile break tempered with small conversation on some really deep conversations that probably needed a whole day to discuss. I meet June Ndung'u, she's a GM at Video Galore and the best part she has the 'The Secret' dvds at her library. Also sharing the table with us was Betty Maina, Chief Executive, Kenya Association of Manufaturers, very interesting lady.

The afternoon session brought us Wanjiku Wairia, Nutritionist. She has definitely read Diva Principles by Michelle McKinney Hammond. Dr. Joyce Gikunda, Lyntons Pharmacy made a presentation about "Putting your best face forward" and Nkirote MMbijjiwe discussed dressing for success.

It was indeed a well spent Saturday. Pushed me onto to the pathway of re-branding me and establishing a great Personal brand.
